Does anybody have some information about the life of Will Goldston?

Will Goldston (1878 - 1943), author, chronicler, publisher, dealer, and legendary English entrepreneur in all things magical. He's "Exclusive Magical Secrets" series of books came to be known as the "locked books". Goldston fitted the limited edition volumes with lock and key. In his introduction to the first volume he stated: "No stranger should in any circumstances be allowed to peruse it, and the tricks and illusions it describes should be shown to others only by way of performance. "The Magician Annual compilations produced by Goldston were each a treasure trove of effects, information, and visual material.Goldston's "Easy Magic with Patter" was, like the Magazine of Magic he edited, profusely illustrated. Goldston's "Young Conjurer", issued in 2 parts, was packed with effects and tips. Leon Andersen

"Hindu Beads" origins

Does anyone know anything authoritative about the history of the principle known as the "Hindu Beads" or "Grandmother's Necklace?" Specifically, I would like to know if it really does have roots in India. If so, what patter story was told along with the effect by Indian magicians?

the effect is unlikely to be of Indian Origin. Its explained in Reginald Scotts Discoverie of witchcraft, wich sugests that its Europen roots, go back some time before it's publication.
